Frequently Asked Questions

Cage Roller or Disc Roller?

Cage Rollers are less expensive, lighter and easier to handle. They offer better performance in wet conditions and loamy sandy soils by not crushing clods and breaking clods thrown in and around the cage when operating.

Disc Rollers are heavier and work better in hard to break down clay conditions or where a finer finish is required, the flanges on the disc roller help by delivering reduced surface area and increased pressure providing a smooth and fine tilth.

Are spare parts easily available?

We understand the importance and urgency required when farming and ensure our parts are ready when you need them. We stock a huge array of parts that are ready to deliver at our Sales and Service centres around Australia.  We can even manufacture specialist parts in our dedicated fabrication plant if required. Basically, we’ll do everything possible to ensure we keep you going!

Where are ILGI Aragon Disc Tillers manufactured?

Ilgi Farm Machinery is manufactured in Turkey. Ilgi has become well known throughout Europe and the USA for building a range of high quality farm machinery. Further to the range of Tillage equipment, Ilgi also manufacture land levellers and heavy duty scrapers among other machinery products. Now Australia has access to these machines sold around the world, and having worked with Ilgi for over 10 years OzValue AG, back the quality and the efficiency of Ilgi machinery.

How deep will ILGI Disc Tillers Dig, can I use it for primary tillage?

Primarily Disc Tillers will dig between 1 to 5 inches (25mm –  125mm). Due to the aggressive disc angle, Ilgi Disc Tillers are suitable for both primary and secondary disc tillage in Australian conditions.

What's the difference between a Speed Disc and a traditional Offset Disc?

There are a few key differences between the two.

One. The rear roller on the speed disc allows for both primary and secondary tillage, whereas an offset is suitable for only primary tillage. This means that typically two passes with a speed disc means you ready to sow. This is a significant benefit over an offset disc as a secondary implement is not required to prepare the seed bed for sowing.

Two. the actual speed of work that speed disc allows for results in a faster completion. Speed discs are capable fo working at speeds of 10 – 14 kph whereby a traditional offset disc arrangement operates at a typical speed of 6 – 8 kph.

Three. Speed discs also leave a superior seed bed when finished, resulting in a quicker establishment of crops and pastures.

Hydraulic Rear Roller

This makes initial setup for your depth easy and simple. Allowing you to reach your desired depth more consistently.

Disc Angle

“A versatile tool for seedbed preparation and stubble incorporation”

The ILGI Aragon Disc Tillers have been designed for versatility. There are two angles on the disc, the twist and the layover, these two-work hand in hand to allow for good penetration into hard ground but equally turn over the soil to incorporate stubble.

Rear Rollers Options

“The finishing difference”

Two types of Rollers are offered for the ILGI Aragon Disc Tillers.

Cage Roller (Standard) – Lighter and easier to handle, better performance in wet conditions and loamy sandy soils, this works by not only crushing clods with the pipes but also breaking clods thrown into and around the cage when working at speed.

Disc Roller (Option) – Heavier and better in hard to break down clay conditions or where a finer finish is required, the flanges on the disc roller help by reducing surface area that comes in contact with the clods and therefore increase the pressure providing a smooth and fine tilth.

Individually Rubber Mounted Tines

“Simple Effective design”

We know that not every paddock is rock and obstacle free and a big advantage of the ILGI Aragon Disc Tillers is each tine is able to rotate on the 4 rubber cushions when it comes into contact with a hard object, this minimizes your risk of damage. The disc can be rotated back on the rubbers and simply roll over the rock and return to work.

Lateral Gang Adjustment

“Cut the lot”

ILGI’s adjustable front gang allows you to fine tune the discs to make sure you get the best possible result from your work.

When setup correctly the front and rear discs work in pairs to cut out the full working width of the machine, eliminating ridges and hollows provide a smooth even tilth to sow into.

SKF Agri Hub is a robust unit for independent tillage discs that has been specifically developed to meet the demands from the agriculture industry for increase productivity reduced costs and care for the environment.

Modern Tillage aims to avoid soil erosion by ensuring that any mechanical tillage is carried out so the essential ecological systems and excellent crop growing conditions are maintained. With this in mind conservative cultivation or minimum tillage of the basic soil provides the flattest possible cultivation and low soil penetration. Enabling harvest residues to remain and be integrated into the upper soil layer and enhancing resistance to soil erosion and sustain soil fertility.

These modern techniques require new tillage machines to deliver these benefits. Modern tillage now favours independent disc suspension rather than a rigid or gang frame harrows. With independent discs, machines offer distinct advantages such as increased speed, flexibility, reliability and soil turnover compared with gang mounting. The most obvious advantage is speed with independent disc suspension allowing a higher working speed (up to 16km/h).

Independent disc suspension increases demands on bearings as the bearing requires the ability to support the disc against various tilting forces coming into contact with it. Is also able to repel contaminates such as mud dust and jet washing, and still enable the disc to rotate effectively during operation.

The SKF Agri Hub has been developed to deliver not only these requirements, but to also allow considerable productivity improvements. Agri Hub is fitted with a special seal that has been successfully tested in various extreme conditions, including full operation at minus 20 degrees Celsius. This strength was proven during a successful first season of tillage in Russia with out any performance problems. Best of all Agri Hub negates the need to ongoing greasing of each bearing which can run to 500kg of lubricant over the ten year life of the average machine. Plus you gain a time saving of approximately half an hour not having to wash and re-re-greasing each time. By contrast SKF Agri Hub hermetic seals ensures no lubricant loss over the life span of this ‘plug and play’ unit.

Through higher productivity, cost reductions, and ease of use, the new SKF Agri Hub plays a key role in improving modern tillage machinery.
